Kingston Design Connection

One of our favorite things about New York’s Hudson Valley is its community of creative entrepreneurs. Every year, the Kingston Design Connection brings together an awesome group of designers, artists, and makers to showcase their skills and talent. We were honored to participate in the 2020 Kingston Design Showhouse and work alongside these folks, especially in a year when connection took on a new level of importance.

Rowan Woodwork worked closely with Meg Lavalette of LAVA Interiors to bring the heart of this home to life. Her design for the kitchen was drawn from countryside homes in northern Italy, mixing Old World-style with contemporary elements. Our team helped achieve this vision with custom cabinetry that balanced these two influences.

The cabinets were constructed with rift white oak which we ebonized. Forgoing traditional cabinet hardware, we designed integrated pulls to create sleek lines and highlight contrasting material fixtures in the space. We didn’t stop short on interior components either—a favorite is the hidden spice area created to utilize a narrow section in the cabinetry footprint.
